From the mind of critic: “If we all band together during a natural disaster, regardless of previous biases, why does it die off after the intitial response? Do we feel the disaster got us out of our spiteful, vitriolic and divisive routine, but now that the initial shock is over, we must get back to our normal lives, which includes a vitrolic, spieful and divisive routine? Do we get stuck in hyper-survival mode, where we help somebody, because we know that 10 minutes later, they could be saving our life? Whether natural, political, financial, or lab or focus group created, disasters can be a great unifier. When all the chips are down, our humanity returns, otherwise the emotional disaster would take us all down. Once we realize that some people’s chips are down whether or not there’s a disaster, we’ll see that if we can pick up signs and symbols of people hurting, before 130 mph winds and 50 inches of rain flood us out of our house, we wouldn’t need a disaster to remind us of our humanity. Animosity, ignorance, jealousy, spitefulness and hate dissappears when helping others, because we’re actually helping ourselves.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “Regardless if we drew inside the lines or not, what color crayons did we grab as a kid from that big box of 64? Did the color we grabbed, determine whether we colored inside the lines or not? Did we walk up to the box already knowing the color we were going to choose, because we’ve been told for generations that only one color is the right color? Did we know our color choice, only because we knew what picture we wanted to make? Do shades differ from brand to brand? Are certain colors made for inside the lines and some for the outside, or is that only want some people want us to think? We choose to draw inside the lines or outside the lines, and with or without color. Once we realize that every color makes every picture beautiful, we’ll see it’s not the color that matters, but the picture itself. Humans and crayons may not have much in common, but the more color we have, the more beauty life reveals. How boring would life be in only one color? We live not only in a black and white world, but one that is rainbow.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If stereotypes are based on false assumptions, is it those false assumptions that cause the ignorant vitriol plaguing our politics? Is every member of a certain group all one way or all another, never deviating from a pre-thought out plan for how a race, culture or religion can be controlled? Are we all different and unique snowflakes, but get jealous of others who seem more successful, more content, and are taking everything from us on their climb to the top? None of us know everything in the world, nor could our delicate minds contain everything in the universe. When we don’t know something or somebody, why do we get scared and feel less than because of ingrained messages we’ve been told all our lives? As humans, we all want to be as comfortable as possible. Once we realize that our comfort isn’t acheived when others feel discomfort, but when we all feel comfort, we’ll see that stereotypes only fuel the division of our species, and the few crumbs the elites allow us to have. How about we all unite, and decide what few crumbs we’ll allow the elites to have? How about we stop fighting each other, and stand up against a system that’s keeping us all down?” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “When we’re frayed to the edges, and a million people want a million things from us sooner than yesterday, do we choose to do nothing, in interest of slowing down our out of control mind? Do we attempt everything, knowing we can’t accomplish it all, then get sad and depressed when we prove ourselves right? Do we pick and choose the things that will build us up, and leave everything else behind as just one more unsolicited advisors hot air? If there’s one thing we don’t need more of in this day and age, it’s more hot air. The climate, Trump and all matter of darkness is in great abundance, fraying us all to our core. Once we realize that our core is the deepest part of who we actually are, as oppossed to who we claim to be, we’ll see that the more we know ourselves, what we want, what mark we want to leave on the world and the kindness and gratitude that will get us there, the less anybody will fray us, no matter the temperature or the velocity of their hot air. We can’t ever do what a million people say. Will we choose to stay the same. or move forward?” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “Is our stepladder to success already layed out when we start our journey, or are steps added as we move forward? If our ladder is waiting for us, with pre-designed steps toward a pre-determined outcome, who does the determining and what’s their motivation? If the skeleton of our ladder is waiting for us, without steps and pointed toward the unknown, how do we build steps and ensure their authenticity? We all have the opportunity to journey down infinite paths, headed in infinite directions. Sometimes these paths have step by step instructions, sometimes they have instructions in non particular order. Sometimes there aren’t instructions at all, but signs and symbols that could lead us in the direction of writing our own instructions. Most of the time, not only are there no directions, but no visible path and darkness all around. Whether our path is visible or not, once we realize that the unknown isn’t scary, but new and intriguing, we’ll see we always want to create our own path to success, by coming up with concrete steps that work for us, not pre-formulated and focus grouped steps that somebody else think will work for us. Stepladders can be scary when we have to build steps as we climb, but are much sturdier in the long run.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If a solar eclipse is the moon blocking our view of the sun, and foggy skies block our view of the eclipse, did the force blocking out the sun, get blocked out itself? Is it just two different methods of blocking the sun, depriving us of vitamin D? Are there infinite methods for blocking the sun, and our eyes recieve the blocking method which corresponds with our perspective and life experience? The sun is always there, no matter what blocks it. If the sun dissappeared, life would also vanish. Same with the light and darkness within our soul. We must do what we can to let our light shine, knowing outside entities will do what they can to block our illumination. Sometimes we can stop them, sometimes we can’t, and sometimes our light is shining whether we know it or not. Once we realize that blocking a seperate block from blotting out our light, is still blocking light, we’ll see that if our light is blocked from view, we need to build a tunnel, not more walls. An eclipse might block our sun, but if we don’t learn lessons from the darkness, light could go dark forever. Don’t block light, allow it to abosrb.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “Do we kill violence with more violence, or do we kill peace with violence? Do we kill peace with more peace, or do we kill violence with peace? Do we even know why we get mad at somebody for being different? We can get rageful out of nowhere, or it can slowly build. if our only reason for getting angry is that a group of people are taking everything from us, when stats will show “that group of people” had everything taken from them, by those taking from us all, then we only have our gullibility to blame for our high blood pressure. Violence breeds violence, and peace breeds peace. Whether it be a single person, a group, rally or march, we kill violence and peace by doing the opposite. It might take a lot of peace, to squash the violence that doesn’t want to relinquish power after hundreds of years, but we have a lot of peace that simply needs to be awoken. We just have to ask ourselves, if we we’re willing to show up in massive enough numbers, so that peace can be on full display.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: If we came with directions when we got delivered into the world, would they be easy to follow steps? Would the booklet include a long list of things we should do and should know, with the first ten being the most important like the Bill of Rights? Are the rules simply in arbitrary order, and like life, we’ll take what works for us, and leave what doesn’t? Babies don’t come out of the womb with toe tag instructions, anymore than adults burst into adulthood with a guaranteed plan to move forward. Life can be hard work, especially when deciphering how to make out hopes and dreams reality. Life can also be much more fulfilling when we’ve figured out how to get past obstacles ourselves, as opposed to a unisex, androginous, generic, robotic and systematic one size fits all plan for being a joyful and saitisfied person. It all boils down to if we’re looking for the easy way out, for somebody to do all the thinking and strategic planning for us, so all the adversity, hardship and character building trials and tribulations will be dealt with by somebody else. If we’re not looking for the easy way out, and know how important to our soul’s development going through the tough times are, we will listen to and heed advice, but will blaze our own trail. If all else fails, read the directions works if we’re putting together a table, but not for putting together a joyful, peaceful and fulfilling life. That we have to figure out for ourselves.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If bread and circuses weld us into survival mode, can humanism and accountability cut through? Is the person we trust to cure our societal blindness, the same person who welded in bread and circuses in the first place? Are there outside forces trying to convince us that this cure is fake, because they know it has a great chance of succeeding? Success is a subjective term like love, hate, joy and sadness. This doesn’t mean success isn’t real, it means only we determine when something is for our personal and collective uplift. Control of the powerless by the powerful, has been levied ever since humans started walking upright. The apathy and complacency that allows us to live our life and make the best out of a bad situation, is exactly what cements our role of being controlled. We destroy this cycle by standing up, speaking out and loving our fellow humans like our species depends on it, because the vampires at the top never get enough blood. We break bread and circuses, by actually breaking bread with our neighbors, and realizing how much of a circus our life has become.” 🙂

from the mind of critic-8/16/17

From the mind of critic: “If hate and racism are caused by ignorance, which is not caring about one’s own lack of knowledge, how do we get those of us to realize that we might not know everything? How do we stop this cycle of ignorance, to apathy, to complacency, to hate and back to ignorance? How do we get those of us to realize, that we might not be the perfect human specimen we make ourselves out to be? You’d think it wouldn’t be hard in the 21st century to say nazis, white nationalists, white supremacists, neo nazis, peckerwoods or any other hate group that preaches violence and/or supremacy over the “other”, you’d think it wouldn’t be hard to say that they’re not only detrimental, but are an extremely dark and violent effort to destroy what America is suppossed to be about. Since we’re absolutely in that stage making it hard to speak up, we must recognize we are that stage, and not beat around the bush. To recognize our current predicament, we have to talk open and honestly. Once we’re used to talking open and honestly, not tomention humanely and peacefully, we’ll see our ignorance float away. This dissappearing act happens because we’ll see that the people we’ve been racist and hateful to, are just like us with the same struggles. Once poor whites, blacks, hispanics, asians and native americans see that they’re going through the same hardships, they will unite. Isn’t unification what we’re looking for, recognizing we’re different and the same, at the same time? Isn’t that how we beat back hate and ignorance?” 🙂
