From The Mind Of Critic-10/5/16

From the mind of critic: “If we usually say “when it rains it pours” when something goes bad and gets progressively worse, do we also say “when it rains it pours” when something goes good and gets progressively better? Are we so used to expecting the worst so we don’t get let down, that it feels weird to even allow ourselves to take pride when things are getting progressively better? Or has life in general gotten so fake and phony because of its distance from nature, that we can’t even tell the difference when something is authentically going good or authentically bad, so we just assume it’s bad because that’s what we’ve always done? There is alot of darkness in life that can overshadow the light. It can be easy for us to fall into the comfortable rut of expecting the worst, so atleast we know what’s coming. This can make us so cynical and skeptical that whenever we see a small glimpse of light, we figure it’s a wolf in sheeps clothing. What we must remember is life is full of schedules, routines and ho-hum everyday activity. so the more we normalize bad events, the more ingrained they will get as just something that happens. But, if we start normalizing all the good and enlightening events, the more those will get ingrained in us. We are creatures of habit, so we will assume that what’s happening will continue to happen, so we can move onto more important matters. Wont we get much further along in life if we say it rains it pours when something good happens, instead of just grabbing a raincoat?” 🙂
