from the mind of critic-2/6/18

From the mind of critic: “If we must take two steps back just to take one forward, is it progress? If we have to make several things worse just to make one better, is it progress? Do we feel a mediocre response, is better than a bad response? In our sincere eforts to not make the perfect the enemy of the good, are we inadvertantly making future progress tougher? Compromise is not a dirty word, it simply involves giving up something to get something. However, when trying to acheive rights for fellow human beings, how does giving up some rights, while taking away others spell progress? Once we realize that a pathway to citizenship for 1.8 million people, isn’t worth breaking up families and taking hope away from others, we’ll see that misrepresentation of problems, create false narratives of “do it my way” compromise. Erasing progress made just to incorporate new progress isn’t compromise, it’s tyranny. Despotic governments end, when the people taking one step forward, are actually one step forward.” 🙂
